Proud Bookworm

I am about to finish “The Dead Girls Dance” by Rachel Caine.  It is a really good series so far. The first book was a little hard to get into , but once I did it was awesome! The second book has been better than the first.

“College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation, where the popular girls never let her forget just where she ranks in the school’s social scene: somewhere less than zero.

When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don’t show many signs of life. But they’ll have Claire’s back when the town’s deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood.”-From Amazon

Morganville is home to pretty much all the vampires. They coexist with the humans. Sort of. Most of the humans are basically “owned” by the vamps. Each vamps provides protection for certain human familes in exchange for, basically an endless food supply or anything they want. No human ventures out at night in Morganville, for fear of death.  Little o’ Claire from out of town has had a crash course in Morganville vampires 101, the hard way.  She is continually tortured by the Mayors daughter, also a college student. She has managed to piss off several vamps, yet gain protection from the oldest living vamp, temporarially. She lives in a house with a Goth girl, who has no vamp pretection,  Micheal (owner of the house) who’s kind of a ghost, and Shane, whose biker dad is hell bend on starting a vamp war.

Can’t wait to read the next one in the series…Midnight Alley
