Home school Mother’s Journal

In our homeschool this week…

The kids have gotten behind on lessons this week. Eric is not thriving with the way the school schedule has been going. He needs structure. If  he chooses the order of his lessons he skips reading, and doesn’t seem to learn what he should. Its like he’s just going through the motions.  While John on the other hand completes his easiest assignments the first 3 days of the week then is left trying to complete the biggest assignments the last two days, ends up staying up late to complete them and works on Saturday sometimes.

I think its time for changes.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We did not have any field trips or scouting activities this week.

My favorite thing this week was…

Eric getting on the computer and learning about producers, consumers & decomposers. Then drawing a food cycle picture and telling me all about it.

What’s working/not working for us…

Lesson schedule. Also Eric has been complaining about his educational online games and his XBOX PE games. I tried changing up his XBOX PE games, giving him more choices and then scheduling more outside PE since the weather has been nice. He still complains. I think there’s more going on with it. And maybe I have been far too accommodating to his needs.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…

I wonder how many times other homeschooling families change up their lessons and schedules.  I wonder how many other homeschool families submit to their child’s wants when it comes to lessons and PE?
